Our Strategy Is Not To Have A Strategy

Good morning! Thank you for joining us at this important company-wide meeting to announce the latest developments on our strategy. Many of you have felt frustrated by the recent hard work and long hours since we haven’t been able to tell you how your projects directly tie into the goals and objectives of the company. So, we are thrilled to announce our Visionext 2.0 plan so that you can see how your initiatives speak directly to our bottom line. Kevin, please advance the slide.
The Visionext 2.0 strategy, simply put, is not to have a strategy. We have strategically decided that a plan of action and set of further decisions for the purpose of achieving a set of goals — a business strategy—could most effectively be constituted of a complete lack thereof. This is effective for our company because it streamlines process: eliminating the need for consensus at the executive level. It also enables our company to be more agile in our thinking and approach, so we can tackle the best projects and best serve our clients throughout this fiscal year.
We are strategically addressing the lack of two traditional elements you may have expected to find when reading the Visionext 2.0 document: (1) one goal/aim/objective (or a few) and (2) an actionable plan/outline designed to achieve it. Our chief strategic goal is to find a way to operate in the black without defined objectives. Continuing strong operations without getting stuck within the bounds of written objectives will enable synergistic cross-department innovation.
Regarding the plan, we did not include a full outline because we are finally embracing a more modern agile scrum approach. For those of you already familiar with agile project management, the only difference is, in Visionext 2.0, we will not be defining the scope of work, staffing plan, or timeline for each sprint. This will enable us to adapt sprints to our clients’ needs and the changing market.
